It is another one of these. Dispatch, like a few others (namely Citizen Sleeper, Norco, The Red Strings Club and of course, Disco Elysium) has made life just a little bit more bearable. I wanted to share a few thoughts on why that is. But it is going to be short.
How I feel
It was good. It made me feel melancholic. But this is not a game review, I am not going to tell you why and what makes this game good. Just play it. And if you did, feel free to read further.
Waterboy is overrated
You will not be able to convince me otherwise, call me a douche, you would not be wrong. I just do not understand the fixation with the character.
I see a lot of people in discord and on here liking the guy or even associating themselves with him, and I donβt get the fascination.
My impression was that he is annoying at best. I get that a lot of people who games are introverts, but if this is the only reason the character is likable, it feels like itβs forced. I feel like the game would not lose on quality if he wasnβt present or was there just as a background character; Having Phenomaman on your team was a much more entertaining and pleasant experience altogether, I think.
I love the game and I am extremely happy they made it just the way they did, one of those thatβs going to stick with me for a long while. Iβm not saying they should not have created the character. But if I was to point out what makes the game great, he would not be high on the list if at all.
Final Thoughts
As always, final thoughts. I wish games like this came out more often. And shit, is it so unreasonable to believe I can have something nice going for me too?
End of the rant, thanks for reading.
